This unit is built with corrosive resistant materials internally and finished with powder coat paint externally. Drive train components are fabricated from stainless steel and bearing bronze. Both motion axes are sealed from the environment using oil type and O ring seals. The front and rear covers are sealed using sponge type replaceable gaskets.
Continuous pan operation is provided by using a slip ring module. The tilt axis travel is adjustable and is set by internal limit switches. Accurate pan and tilt positioning is accomplished by the use of 2048 count digital encoders on both axes. Pan, tilt, and camera presets may be programmed and recalled on the DPT 220. The presets on the DPT 220 are for pan, tilt, zoom, and focus. The high resolution of the presets yields very accurate and repeatable preset recall.
The DPT 220 uses a simple RS-422 interface to the ESI family of digital controllers. All interface lines are provided through a singe military type circular connector on the base of the unit. Teleconferencing, CCTV, and serially controlled lenses may all be easily interfaced to the versatile DPT 220.
Options for the DPT 220 include an internal heater, custom connector rear panel, and an over the top pay load bracket. The heater option extends the low temperature operation of the unit to minus 30 C. The over the top bracket allow the user to add sensors for more complex applications. The custom rear may be supplied with the connector configuration required by the user.
ESI produces a family of digital controllers, which may control from 1 to 5 DPT series pan & tilt heads. The Model 180 family of digital controllers was specifically designed to provide optimum performance from a DPT 220.
